Oops A Daisy one layer plus

Happy Thursday! Today I'm enjoying my day off, one day later than usual as work is hectic at the moment. Anyway, we have a lovely sketch challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches this morning and I managed to combine the sketch with a couple of other challenges, which is always a bonus!

CAS on Sunday have a one layer challenge. My first version of this card is for that. I have also used the colours from the photo inspiration at Stampin' Royalty, they are such gorgeously summer shades, ...love them

I challenged myself too, to use a stamp set which I almost never get out, Decorate A Daisy. I teamed it up with my fave Gorgeous Grunge, and a sentiment from Sweet Cake . As you can see I created the panel by cutting an aperture to reveal the image stamped inside....I do hope this qualifies as one layer! You will see that I actually cut two apertures and added some scoring around the two

This was my first attempt and I cut straight through the sentiment panel when I cut the second vertical...aaaarrgghhh! Instead of wasting it I made a second card with the greeting stuck down to the inside of the card.

For both cards I heat embossed the Daisy image, used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to ensure accurate positioning and masking to allow me to layer the images.

This second card I kept even more CAS by not using the Grunge stamps so much.

Up In The Air

.......thats the challenge at The Male Room this morning, but there is a catch...No Birds! Every time I went to search for a stamp I kept finding bird ones! I turned the problem over to my two eldest children, home for the summer from university, and their brains are obviously much sharper (younger definitely) than mine as they came up with loads of ideas. The one I finally went with was Fred's. He even helped me with printing the digital image I used.

I had already decided to use the cloud embossing folder. I printed the airplane image, fussy cut it out and stamped the sentiment from Fabulous Four, which I chose simply because I thought it fitted well with the design.

I split the sentiment up to make a banner for the 'plane and placed the rest on the layers. I did have a few tries at the embossing, the first time I sponged some blue ink over to make it more sky-like, but in the end went for a complete clean and simple look. You can see it better on the next photo.

For My Dad

Hello! This morning I have a very clean and simple Fathers' Day card, which I have made for my Dad. I used the colours from this week's challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches

If, like me, you don't have these colours just use something close - I used a Matt silver, More Mustard and a generic green to stamp on my card. I also used two of my 'go to' stamp sets, Wetlands and Work Of Art. Do you have favourite stamp sets too? Ones which you love to use over and over again? I've teamed them up with the Hello You thinlets die and Best Ever Dad, to make the sentiment.

I used the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch

I used the silver and the green stamped and then stamped off to create the four panels. Then I stamped the goose in More Mustard, carefully positioning the image with my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig so that the plumage of the bird would match up.

Finally I added the Happy, cut out of green card stock and stamped part of a sentiment in the silver.

Beautiful Butterfly.

Here is a card I made for a friend who's going through a difficult time. It is a magic slider card, you can google Magic Slider Card and you will find tutorials on how to make them. this is my first and it amazes me, so much that I actually wanted to keep it! Good job we can blog these cards so we kind of get to keep them.

The frame is made from a 12x12 piece of DP, the stamp is a very old one, I have no idea where from. The flowers were punched out and layered together. The leaves are stamped using Kinda Eclectic and fussy cut out.

This shows the dimension . The next three pictures show the magic slide effect, pull the tab and the butterfly magically becomes beautifully coloured.

I used the sentiment 'life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful' as it seemed just right for both the design of the card ( have you tried stamping on acetate!!) and the occasion. I am entering the challenge at Addicted To CAS where the theme is Butterflies.

Kinda Bokeh

Flying a bit close to the wind today, just found a little time this morning before work to make my card for the challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. It is a sketch week and here is the sketch, designed by fellow DT member, Lizy and very clean and simple
I've seen a few cards, using a bokeh technique, where you blend your ink on the card and then, using the negative of some punched circles sponge white ink through the holes. I wanted to try it out. I also found these gorgeous colours at The Colour Throwdown and thought I'd give them a whirl

So this is the result. I've used Kinda Eclectic for the tone on tone stamping

I also used a piece of Adventure Bound DP for the grey, and so proving to myself that it can also be used for feminine cards. The layering and vertical stripe were simply made from matching card stock. It took a little longer than I anticipated for this card to come together but as I'm going to also enter a couple of challenges I am not complaining.

Tag on the Gate

I am so busy at work, with the exam season in full swing, I can't even manage to take my day off so making cards is a bit of a challenge. Really wanted to make this one though, it's for the new challenge at The Male Room and it requires a masculine inspired project featuring a tag

Well, I've outdone myself as I've used two! I must admit to being a bit miffed. I bought these tags and when I opened the packet there is only one of each digit, hate it when they do that, of course we need more zeros than any other number and a couple of each one wouldn't be too much to ask for now, would it?

I am using the Adventure Bound DP again and the sentiment is from a peel off page, called Sentiments For Men, it's been quite useful!

I sponged the edges of all of the panels and used a gate fold card base. I put some more of the wooden panel effect DP inside and stamped the cake and candle image from Big Day to go inside.

Here you can se views of the inside and the dimension on the tags, achieved by using foam pads.

I see that The Paper Players have a challenge featuring masculine cards and so I would like to enter my card in the challenge over there.

Summer Time.....

Good morning and Happy Thursday. June already, it will soon be the longest day and the long school holiday is not that far away now. Feeling good this morning as I post this card for the new challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. Lazy is this month's hostess and she's bang up to date, using some of the new in-colours from Stampin' Up

Fab colours, aren't they? Sadly, I have yet to get any of the new stuff in the new catalogue so I had to improvise, for me this meant primrose petals, Crumb Cake and Pistachio Pudding. You don't have to use Stampin Up colours at all, just shades that are as close as possible.

I got out a stamp set I don't use much, inspired by browsing through the new catalogue, Serene Silhouettes. I stamped the birds on the branch image onto  white card, using my Stampwrite markers. Then I cut an aperture in a piece of Kraft adds tick, which I embossed with a brick wall background embossing folder.

I used foam tape to raise the 'wall' off the card front to give depth to the aperture. Then I stamped the second image and sentiment on more white card. Die cutting this to leave the banner uncut was the trickiest part of the whole card!

I am a bit cross that the 'wall, does not seem perfectly centred on the card base, in real life it is so I guess the shadows on the photo are causing this effect. A small star shaped rhinestone completes the sentiment. So, a summery themed card to celebrate the fact that summer is upon us.... Now, will somebody turn the heating up???
