Cut Out Trees

It's colour challenge week at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown and I set myself the challenge to use all 5 colours, although you only actually need to use at least three. They are very non-traditional too, so I've come up with quite a contemporary card.

The tree is from an old set called Season of Joy, love this happy little tree image,  the sentiment from Contempo Christmas. Of course, this card depended very heavily on my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, wouldn't be without it now.

The blue glitter is actually washi tape and I added a few gemstones to the stars.

This is how it looks flat..these really are lovely colours, hope you have a go at making your Christmas card with them, only 11 weeks to go now!

Shades Of Green

The colour challenge that Jacqueline has devised for us at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown this week is a little bit different - we want to see shades of green on your Christmas cards.  One neutral is allowed - either for your cardstock or for stamping outlines

For my neutral I chose cream card stock, and I have used three shades of green, I've also gone long and thin (I wish!!)
I've used Contempo Christmas stamps.  First I used Lucky Limeade (my all-time favourite green) and sponged a piece of card all over, then I waterstamped the tree image on top, adding a few splashes for effect.  Once dry I added the three trees, stamped in an olive green shade onto the cream card and an organza ribbon.  Finally, I stamped the sentiment in 'Christmas tree' green (I don't have a proper name for it)
Here it is, a bit closer up

Quite arty, I think.  Very happy with the way this turned out.  Do visit the blog to see the fab cards from the rest of the team.

A Bit of Christmas Love

ooohh It's all hearts and flowers now, with Valentines' Day just gone, hope you got some love from someone special.!Whilst we are a Christmas card challenge blog here at 52{Christmas} Card Throwdown we are keeping with the theme of love for this week. We want to see your Christmas cards featuring hearts or expressions/sentiments of love..

My card started as a piece of DP, what I mean, is it was the paper from which the whole card grew.
I found this paper in my local craft shop, and I've made a matching 3D heart ornament (hand cut and embossed with Swiss dots), added a few bows too, and to finish what I think is a perfect sentiment - here a close up
Do have a look at the creations from the rest of the team.  It was great to craft with hearts for a Christmas project and I'm sure you'll be inspired too.  Don't be too quick to put all your Valentines' embellies away!

Christmas Stripes and Baubles

I had such a lot of fun making this card! I used the bingo card challenge at Addicted To Stamps and More - not done this before and there is almost too much choice but it is interesting looking at the possible combinations.  I chose to go across the middle - Black, Stripes and free and using Mica powder was my free choice.
I started with making the stripes, using double sided tape of various widths and ultra fine glitter, I built up the stripes for the background. I cut out the baubles from black cardstock and used mica powder to add the colour and sentiment, stamping the sentiment over the top of two of the baubles.   It's from SU new set Sassy Salutations. Using mica powder was a new-to-me technique which I learned at our craft club meeting last week - I'm hooked, I love that shimmery blingy effect and it's so simple.  I added some gold thread to the baubles and positioned them off centre for a CAS contemporary Christmas card

Christmas Bling

Yesterday's little robin card certainly got me thinking about Christmas cards, I sorted out my Christmas drawer and it was great finding all those bits of bling and stamps again.  I also remembered that I'd seen a great challenge on the blogs to get us all ready for the season (even though it's still 7 months away!) 52 {christmas} card Throwdown. The theme over there was a colour combination which I absolutely love, Christmas or not!- Purple, silver and green.  No clever tricks, I just stamped the three baubles in the three colours, added a hand-drawn string, matted and layered also on the three colours and added as much bling as I thought it could stand! The sentiment, stamped in purple, is from the same stamp set, SU's Contemp Christmas.
