There's Only One You

God Morning!  I am up very early this morning as I had to take my son to work (he's a lifeguard at our local swimming pool). I was going to nip back into bed as I'm on holiday but the day was too good to waste and so I thought I'd post today's card for the challenge at The Male Room instead. The original theme for the challenge was Man's Best Friend, but we've extended it to include all pets, as long as your card is suitable for a male. I stuck with the MBF idea and made another card with my Paisley Pets stamp set.

It is a variation of a card I made last week, using the Hardwood background stamp to make a picket fence (I even used the scraps I had left from the previous card, how's that for thrifty?) but I've given it a masculine twist with my dog in the grass card, rather than the flowers I used previously. I thought the sentiment went well with the image.  It's all popped up on dimensionals and my dog has two small gems for his eyes.  Instead of embossing clouds as I did before this time I've sponged them in using a scalloped circle, love creating flffy white clouds in this way. The grass is cut by hand.
Do hope you'll join us in the challenge.

Images from Indonesia

CAS Colours and Sketches have a sketch for your challenge today, and it's a good one!

Wondering about the title? A very long time ago, BC (before children) I was lucky enough to have an extended stay in Jakarta, where my husband was working.  We lived in a small house in a garden filled with exotic flowers and, in the evening, these little green gekos would come out and cool down on the white walls. Just like these ones..

You will notice that I forgot to add the corner element to the main panel, so check out below. My little geko has some bling to represent his sparkly scales and he comes from a set called Paisley Pets, stamped using my markers so that I could add touches of colour to his, mostly, green body. The leaf is a stick on. With or without? What do you think?

Hello Beautiful!

You will know that I am a cat lover, with the pictures of my three furbabies on here, but I do love all animals and so when I saw the theme at Less Is More I couldn't be happier - cats and/or dogs! I am sure there are a dozen different cards I could have made but this one came into being this morning, I think I'm just in that kind of mood!

This little chap is from an Inkadoodles set called Paisley Pets (not quite sure why he would be a Paisley Pet but...)and it was one of the first stamp sets I got, though I haven't used him before. Aren't his little ears and big, droopy jowls adorable?  I stamped him and coloured him in with my Promarkers, adding a single gem on his name tag. I just wanted the pop of red from his collar. The sentiment is hand doodled. Never quite sure about my writing on a card (one reason I don't scrapbook is that I don't like my handwriting for the journaling bits) but here I think it's OK .have a closer look.

If I had been more confident I would have gone one-layer, but I'm more than happy with the way this turned out!

Stick Around

I do like the challenges over at Casology where they supply a cue card with a word, it's such a simple idea and the entries are always very varied and amazing.  This week the word is 'ZOO' I racked my brains as I don't have any wild animal stamps or papers and then I remembered this little chap -you do find geckos and other lizards in zoos, right?
I only used two colours, Lucky Limeade and Pool Party. I stamped the image and then masked it while I stamped the frame, by pressing the ink pad onto the card. I love the textured finish this very simple technique gives you. I matted it onto more pool Party cardstock and added a sentiment which I produced on the computer. Finally I added some green 'Stickles' to make his eyes shine. I am sure I have seen these beautiful creatures in the zoo, although they are not quite as stand out as the lions, tigers and the elephants they are very iconic I think.

Party Animal

I made this card at the same time as 'Man's Best Friend' and used the Inkadinkado stamp set 'Paisley Pets'.  It's more funky, don't you think?
