CAS Cupcake Card

As it says in the title of my blog, cupcakes are a favourite theme of mine. In fact, I think cake is my favourite food! So I'm happy to share another cupcake card with you for the new challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches
It is a colour week and we have a very delicious trio of colours for you, featuring Melon Mambo

I am also entering the challenge at Casology where the cue word is Cupcake.

I stamped the two parts of the cupcake using Create a Cupcake and added some Bermuda Bay sprinkles and a Melon Mambo coloured flower brad. I have a difficult time with bling and CAS, I love both and they don't always go together, certainly you can't overdo bling on a CAS card, but I think I've kept it to a minimum here. I used the Cupcake Builder punch and added the cupcake to the front of the card where I had ready stamped the greeting, using Early Expresso.

I quite liked the clean and simple look of this card left how it is, but I did want to use the embossing for the challenge at Cas-ual Fridays
I have used a really old embossing folder, one of the first craft things I ever bought. I cut the aperture first, before embossing.

I used foam pads to give depth to the aperture. These second photos were taken indoors, they show up the embossing better but it does give the white card a kind of blue cast.

Here is the detail of the cupcake in the centre.

Cup Cake Latch Card

CAS colours & Sketches have a new colour challenge, out yesterday, but this week just slipped away from me (again!) so I'm a day late with my post. Did make the card yesterday but just couldn't get round to posting it until after work today.

I needed to make a Latch card for a card swap group I am part of and decided to use that idea when making my DT card. I used Big Day for the sentiment and Cupcake Builder for the smaller cakes.
I found a piece of polka dot DP in the correct shade

Here you can see the cupcake on the latch, popped up on foam pads.

The middle cake is actually the latch, which holds the card closed

This is the final version of the card, no longer so CAS, with the addition of some grosgrain edged ribbon, pearly sprinkles and a shiny cherry on the top of each cake and a small flower on the cake cases. This is the card I will be entering in the red, white and blue challenge at Seize The Birthday and sending to my swap partner today...hope she likes it!

Bluebells on The Malverns

This morning I have a card inspired by the challenge at Make My Monday and a photo posted by a friend on Facebook. Where I am lucky enough to live there are millions of bluebells, flowering right now, carpeting everywhere in blue, have a look

The challenge is for seasonal flower colours, I have used three shades of blue, two shades of green and yellow
I used the acetate block print technique to make my grassy background. I added Lovely as a Tree, stamped twice and some 'sprinkles' from Create A Cupcake to add the flowers in the distance. The
sky is sponged and the flower heads punched out, curled and a tiny yellow centre added, the greeting is also from the cupcake set.

Star Fruit and Cup Cakes

It's a sketch week at CAS Colours and Sketches and we have a gem of a sketch for you to play with this time

It's been a while since I got out the Cup Cakes and I thought this sketch was perfect for it. I cut out the two triangular panels from Stampin' Up DP and matted them onto some Summer Start Fruit CS.  I stamped the parts of the cupcake and used the coordinating punch to cut them out. Love this combo of Summer Star Fruit with the Calypso Coral, it's yummy just like those cup cakes.  The 'chocolate' one in the middle has silver sugar balls, courtesy of some liquid pearls. I used the matching sentiment.  All in all it didn't take too long to put together and I know I'll be sending this one to someone! I'm going to pop it in the challenge at Seize The Birthday, I think these are Autumn/fall colours, although perhaps not used in a traditional autumnal way, and it is definitely a birthday card!

Seize the Cup Cake

We're having a bit of a bake-off at our house this weekend, and I think it may have influenced my card making! My daughter, home from Uni, is baking chocolate -orange cupcakes, cappuccino chocolate eclairs and marshmallow muffins.  Here is my offering - much better for the waist-line.

I have used the sketch this week from Seize The Birthday challenge blog, and, as it's week one, they would like to see feminine cards.  Here's the sketch, as you can see I've used a square card blank so I've had to change it a little, but isn't it fab - bet you can do all sorts with this one!

I used my cup cake builder punch to paper piece the little cake, and some pink and brown stripey paper from my stash - chocolate and pink is a favourite combination of mine.  I used Naturals White for the card base, as it reminded me a bit more of cookie dough than a basic white. I cut the lacy scalloped edge out of the striped paper.  Inside, I have folder over the 'ribbon' and finished it with a fish-tail (which you can't see) and added a border of coordinating paper which you can just catch a glimpse of in this photo

I think this would be a great card for any of my daughter's friends - they love cup cakes too!

3 Little Cupcakes

Another colour challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches this week and it's a very easy combination of Olive Green, Pretty In Pink and Melon Mambo (or any shades you have close to these three, as they don't have to be exact SU colours).  At first I thought spring flowers but then I was distracted by the arrival of some new SU goodies - a cup cake builder punch and the matching stamp set.  Cupcakes it is, then!
I stamped three little squares of dark pink directly onto my card base, using the ink pad itself.  Then I made three little cupcakes using the punch and stamp.  Aren't they delicious? The sentiment is from the same set and is rather fun too. Here's a close up
I am thinking now about how else I could use my punch so if you have any ideas I'd be glad to hear them!
