CAS Floral Birthday

Its holiday season and like many people I am scheduling this post to go live when I am away, I hope it works and you are seeing this for the first time on the right day at the right time! It's my DT card for this week's challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches

It's a fab sketch, so many possibilities. I knew what I wanted to do as soon as I saw it...

Using Kinda Eclectic and Stippled Blossoms, I dropped the design to the bottom of the card so that the sentiment, from Fabulous Four, could take centre stage. The border is hand drawn. Inside I have stamped a traditional Happy Birthday greeting.

I kept the card monochromatic, using just Primrose Petals, stamped off to create the lighter tones on the flower and just coloured in a few stamens on each bloom

I don't often use flowers on my cards, but when I do it is often using this two step stamping set. I do like the effect it creates. Fussy cutting out the two blooms and using foam pads on one gives some easy layers whilst keeping things CAS with lots of white space.
Just noticed the date I'm scheduling this post for and it is my wedding anniversary today! 26 years! I expect we will be celebrating somewhere, it will be ' Our Day'.

Up In The Air

.......thats the challenge at The Male Room this morning, but there is a catch...No Birds! Every time I went to search for a stamp I kept finding bird ones! I turned the problem over to my two eldest children, home for the summer from university, and their brains are obviously much sharper (younger definitely) than mine as they came up with loads of ideas. The one I finally went with was Fred's. He even helped me with printing the digital image I used.

I had already decided to use the cloud embossing folder. I printed the airplane image, fussy cut it out and stamped the sentiment from Fabulous Four, which I chose simply because I thought it fitted well with the design.

I split the sentiment up to make a banner for the 'plane and placed the rest on the layers. I did have a few tries at the embossing, the first time I sponged some blue ink over to make it more sky-like, but in the end went for a complete clean and simple look. You can see it better on the next photo.

My Heart is a Work of Art

It's a quick, clean and simple card from me this morning for this weeks sketch challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches. The sketch was chosen for us by Lizy and I made a very conscious decision to keep away from Christmas cards, although you could make beautiful Festive cards with this sketch?

Here is my card, I've used washi tape for the two main panels and the heart is from the Work of Art stamp set. I used some white raffia  to make the bow. The YOU is part of a stamp which says Thank
You from the set a Fabulous a Four. Very quickly made, ready for someone special.

Thank you tags

Well, look at me!Here I am right on time with my card for the challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches this week. It's a sketch challenge

I have also used the colours from this week's challenge at Colour Throwdown

and here is my card, using Gorgeous Grunge. The sentiment is from Fabulous Four. I have added a sprinkling of gems, including some grey pearls, even though I've tried to keep it CAS. Still lots of white space

First Work of Art

It's a colour week at CAS Colours and Sketches and apart from these lovely colours I also have a new stamp set to play with (the title of this post does give it away)

I know that the card itself is not particularly original, I have seen a few around of this design and liked them so much I decided to make my own version. The bottom swipe is a stamped off version of Perfect Plum. My dark purple is actually Blackberry Bliss. It is OK to substitute your own shade or other brand of ink, as long as it is basically the same colour palette. The flowers and leaves are from Stippled Blossoms and there is a tiny purple gem inside each flower centre. I LOVE the style of the sentiment, it's also from a new set, Fabulous Four- I can tell these are going to be my new best friends!

I used Mossy Meadow and Blackberry Bliss cardstock to make the mats. I am very happy with the new In Colours from Stampin' Up, not trying to sell them, just commenting!
