Male Celebration

At The Male Room it's time for a celebration! It can be any celebration you like, my card could be for a birthday or New Year but it' definitely for a man or teenaged boy.

I used a stamp set from Papermania, called It's a Man's World and coloured it using my Promarkers. I've added some stickles glitter for the bubbles and the party blower and some shading gives the image a little more depth. I hand drew the border and used a textured red card mat. The photo is flashed so has lost some of the warmth in the colours -if I get chance I will redo the pic. Something quite different to my normal style- I like it!

Love Joy and Burlap

I managed to sneak a n hour or so crafting, in between Christmas shopping and wrapping, and have created a card with the help of one or two challenges.  The sketch is this weeks challenge at CAS
 Colours and Sketches

The colour palette comes from Colour Q Challenge #219 (isn't that little owl gorgeous?)

and the theme from Addicted To CAS- snowflakes

So here is my card, I am stuck on emboss resist at the moment- love the whiteness of the stamped image. The stamp is my magazine freebie.  I found a piece of DP with what I thought looked like a snowflake too.  My sentiment is Love and Joy and I've fussy cut it out -quite pleased with the result. Just couldn't resist adding the on-trend burlap ribbon- found in the Christmas wrapping aisle in the supermarket

Tags on the Run

Just a quickie from me this morning. I made some gift tags using the emboss resist technique, one of the featured techniques on Technique Time Tuesday, where the current challenge asks for any previous technique.  I am so sorry that my post is about a week late, but that's about my life at the moment- at this rate we will be celebrating Christmas at New Year in our house!

They match the wrapping paper I have, hence the mix of colours and are destined for my work colleagues. The stamps are, of course, Ornament Keepsakes and the snowflake is a magazine freebie- one I really love to use.  Go to run, so much to do........

Santa Bling

For the final challenge for 2013 at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown you will have two weeks to link your card and this time we are celebrating the year with ANY PAST 52CCT 2013 CHALLENGE. You could chose a sketch, a colour, a theme or technique, even a recipe/embellishment or any combination of those.

I've chosen to blend the theme of Santa with Bling It Up!

Actually, I have to admit that I had the Santa topper stamped and coloured in my Christmas stash from the first time we did this challenge- only I didn't use him then! With the addition of some white glitter in his beard, a large pearl for his hat a few gems and some red glitter paper he is well and truly 'blinged up!' The background is made from scraps of DP faux stitched and mounted on black cs to look like patchwork.
I would like to wish each and every one of my followers and anyone else who occasionly pops over to my blog a very happy and peaceful Christmas time and a 2014 full of craft - may your stash be ever overflowing!

Naughty and Nice

Our final colour challenge for 2013 at CAS Colours and Sketches is perfect for Christmas (How are your preparations going, by the way?).

I love these warm colours, and for me I thought of a steaming mug of Egg Nog Latte -my favourite Christmas drink. I've used 2 contrasting papers, with some homemade washi tape for the horizontal border. I stamped the mug, waited for it to dry and then stamped and heat embossed the sentiment.  The steam is heat embossed in white directly onto the paper (I tried to put it onto acetate, but it went crinkly with the heat). I personally feel that I'm running out of steam now! I think a nice Christmas break is in order, to get the hundreds of jobs done that I need to do before the big day, so I don't expect to be around too much, a couple more posts may be.

Barbecue in December?

This time the challenge at The Male Room is Food and Drink.  You can go with birthday, anniversary, Christmas, thank you, whatever you like, just remember it must be a project for the men in your lives!
I admit I loved doing this theme as I found a stamp in the bargain bucket which is perfect for the man in my life! He loves to barbecue - we've even been known to do it in the depths of winter, to celebrate his January birthday.  Here's the card I've made

I've used a woodgrain stamp to make the background and have kept the colour scheme very masculine. Trying to make these rectangular cards a bit more often, as mostly I do square ones. The sentiment is from Delightful Dozen - another purchase, with next year's cards in mind.
