Diamonds (and Pearls) Are A Girl's Best Friend!

Diamonds and pearls- don't you just love them! They are classic in every way, especially on Christmas cards and today at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown Asha has chosen them for our stash challenge

I loved this challenge, -to add bling? Oh, yes, bring it on! I could have gone sophisticated and elegant, CAS, vintage, shabby chic, steam punk even, all styles apply, but I went homestyle modern, with lots of Kraft and cream and a pop of warm burgundy. Have a look

The ornament stamps from Ornament Keepsakes were stamped in versamark and heat embossed with white. I used Kraft and black for the card stock. The matching die cuts make cutting them out simple. I used Kraft cs for the mat, added a layer of twinkling vellum and a border of washi tape. There are diamonds on the large round ornament and on the snowflakes. I added grey pearls to the other large ornament and a large black pearl to the centre of the small one. The ornaments are popped up on foam pads of different thicknesses.

The Noel was stamped on mountboard and then covered in several layers of clear embossing powder to give a tile effect. Finally, I tied a bow in some burgundy coloured satin ribbon. With all those layers I thought I could enter the challenge at Winter Wonderland, where they tell me it is only 89 days to Christmas! Whoopie! Also,Completely Christmas are having an Anything Goes challenge, so I'll enter my card over there too.

Thank you tags

Well, look at me!Here I am right on time with my card for the challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches this week. It's a sketch challenge

I have also used the colours from this week's challenge at Colour Throwdown

and here is my card, using Gorgeous Grunge. The sentiment is from Fabulous Four. I have added a sprinkling of gems, including some grey pearls, even though I've tried to keep it CAS. Still lots of white space

Pedal to the Metal

I do enjoy creating masculine cards these days. It used to phase me but having been on the DT at The Male Room has cured me of that by now. This card is no exception to the others I've posted yesterday and today in that it is very late, but as the challenge runs for two weeks I did think it would be OK and that my team mates would forgive me!
The theme is Metal

The embossed background was black card stock which I rubbed over with antique silver after passing it through the Big Shot , it has quite an amazing metal-like appearance. I stamped the silver car, masked it and stamped the black cars and I made the sentiment using my computer- shame is we'd run out of black ink, so the monochrome effect was not as I had hoped, but I still think it works. I am entering the challenge at Cards4Guyz with this one. It's my first time over there and the challenge is 'No patterned Paper'
Note to DT team mates-I will try to do better this week and post my cards on time! Thanks for looking!

inkognito Butterfly

Oops, forgot to post this one, so although it's been up on the challenge blog at CAs colours and Sketches for a couple of days I have only just posted it here. At Colours and Sketches we alternate between colour and sketch challenges and this week it is a colour challenge, chosen by yours truly.

.....

The stamp is from Inkilicious, the Inkognito range. Just love these, so I guess you'll be seeing a few more cards with this one. The sentiment is from Stampin Up.

Scandinavian Christmas

Here is my card for the challenge at52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown this morning. I've been taking a break from my DT work for a few weeks as my life has hectic with holidays, birthdays and minor crises so it might take me a few cards to 'warm up' the mojo!
We have a theme today

It is my background which is particularly on theme, the cross stitch hearts. It is actually fabric, which gives interesting texture. I hand cut the window and used a piece of snowy acetate. I stamped the trees and added the die cut deer and sentiment, both are Memory Box dies. I did fiddle about a bit adding other bits but in the end decided to go with this very clean look. This means that it actually didn't take very long to make and so I am entering the 20 minute challenge at Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas  , first time in a while for that too.

I am looking forward to getting back to commenting, so do have a go at this challenge!

Line of Lanterns

A card based on a sketch this morning, my sketch, designed for CAS Colours and Sketches. This time I made the design with this card in mind, or more particularly this stamp in mind. It's the first time of inking for this one.

The sketch lends itself quite well to this shape card, I often make square cards but I felt like a change! Love those summery shades, Lucky Limeade, with Tangelo Twist, Blackberry Bliss (stamped off, or otherwise it's too dark for my liking) and Primrose Petals. Do you recognise the green paper? Stampin' Up addicts may notice it is a DP which has large poppy flowers,. I had already used the flowers on another card a few months ago. This time I cut some of the long stems off and laid the piece horizontal - love it when you can use up something which you thought was useless.

Cat in the Flowers

Hey everyone, I'm back from my travels and ready to start crafting again. I didn't have a chance to visit Michael's when I was in the States (disappointing) but it gives me a reason to go back! Today I start my month as hostess at CAS Colours and Sketches and I'm starting with a colour challenge

I love these rich colours together, although my card is quite simple. Although it contains some layers with the blooms I hope it is still CAS because there is a lot of white space.

I was lucky enough to be allowed to borrow this new floral stamp set from a friend, looks like I might need to buy it for myself as I love the large blooms. The small flower is from Stippled Blossoms,
another set, and the cheeky little cat is from Furry Friends, first time of inking for him. Love his surprised expression. He reminds me of my Splodge, who at the moment is recuperating after having been hit by a car. He needed quite some orthopaedic surgery to mend his broken leg,and has several metal pins holding it together. All this happened while we were away on holiday, so lots of phone calls to the vet and anxious hours waiting to hear how he was doing. Thankfully he's home now, but needs 6 weeks of crate rest, not easy for him to accept.
Day 4 after surgery
